Pigtailed girl gets kicked out of the U.K after a decade of British living.
Moves to Paris since they seem to love immigrants there.
She gets a job taking coats and telephone calls in posh Parisian Cafe.
Learns how to play the role of" Hostess "
While being the worst hostess in the world ( loses coats, gets bookings wrong, cant
understand French) the pigtailed girl basically spend her time spacing out and writing
song lyrics on scruffy menu pads.
Then, One fine sunny day. she sees a pony tailed man with lots of tattoos sitting and
reading a newspaper outside the cafe.
She finds him rather intriguing but cannot say why.
The next time he comes back to the cafe, they exchange numbers and arrange to meet up for a coffee.
So they meet up.
Drink tea instead of coffee
She finds out that he is an orchestra conductor, contemporary composer and piano
virtuoso who has studied with eveyone and anyone in the world of classical music
He finds out that she is actually a self taught singer- songwriter and had been an
alternative rocker for years
A unlikely musical combination indeed..
Until one day.
She quits the cafe.
Joins a band called Nouvelle Vague and tours all over the world for a bit..
Then on another day very similar to that one day, she writes out a load of song titles.
And then writes a load of songs to go with the songs titles
Looks for someone to record it.
Someone not too poppy, not to Whoops Shiny Lady !
And after much pondering and debate she chooses to record with none other than that
orchestra conductor, Nicola Tescari.
They record using very expensive pianos played in very posh rooms, generoulsly donated
by the Katia Labeque Foundation of love and pretty sounds.
They get some friends to come play with them in these very posh rooms with very posh
pianos and, using very posh microphones, which are dotted around the place by
master soundsmith Mr David Chalmin, they record the load of songs.
Very soon they have an album.
She called Venus Gets Even.
